Chefs’ Encounter: Guest Chef Dinner with Sergio Ortiz de Zárate at La Vie Gourmet

At the next edition of La Vie Gourmet’s exclusive “Chefs’ Encounter” series, we invite our guests on a culinary journey into the world of Basque gastronomy. Executive Chef Attila Borda and his team welcome Sergio Ortiz de Zárate, the MICHELIN-starred chef of Restaurant Zárate.

Sergio began his professional journey at the School of Hospitality in Leioa and built his career across various restaurants, becoming a specialist in fish and seafood. In 2002, he opened his first restaurant in Lekeitio, and years later founded Zárate, which he relocated to Bilbao in 2011. In 2015, his work was recognized with a MICHELIN star and two Repsol Suns.

His cuisine is deeply rooted in the sea: fish, seafood, and marine plants take center stage in every dish. A marine element is present throughout his creations -even in meat dishes and desserts- resulting in a distinctive and refined culinary identity.

During the evening, the two chefs will present a unique seasonal tasting menu, combining ocean-inspired flavors with modern gastronomic techniques. Sergio’s philosophy- built on respect for natural ingredients and a deep personal connection to the sea- offers an authentic and truly personal dining experience.

This evening is more than just a dinner; it is a culinary journey into the depths of the ocean, where tradition, innovation, and passion meet on the plate.

The price of the 7-course tasting menu is 48 000 HUF, available for external guests as well.
Hotel guests enjoy an exclusive 30% discount.
